CrazyDomains acquires Vodien

Dreamscape Networks, owner of Australian domain name registrar CrazyDomains, has acquired Singapore’s Vodien Group for SGD $31.16 million, combination of SGD $20 million cash (AUD $19 million based on a AUD/SGD exchange rate of 1.05) and 42.5 million new DN8 shares (issue price 25 cents per share).

Vodien Group founders, John Lee (Lee Wen, Jervis) and Alvin Poh (Poh Chun Chiang, Alvin) will be joining DN8 as senior executives specifically to bolster CrazyDomains’s targeted Asian expansion.

More interesting to me was some information revealed along with this acquisition;

  • Vodien Group has an approximately 19% market share of .sg domain registrations (standing at number 3)
  • Average Billing Per User (ABPU) of AUD $360 (SGD $377.43)
  • Company was established in 2002, and commenced hosting services in 2006
  • Vodien owns the following web hosting brands: Singhost, IT Works Internet, Webvisions and sgDomain (included in the acquisition)
  • Very impressive.
