An initiative organized by the NDP committee, The Pledge Moment, where (hopefully) all Singaporeans will come together and at 8.22pm today, a signal will be sounded over the national public warning system, recite the National Pledge.
Everything’s good and dandy but can anyone tell me why of all times, 8.22pm? Does the time have any special significance?
In case you’ve forgotten, the pledge in its full;
We, the citizens of Singapore, pledge ourselves as one united people, regardless of race, language or religion, to build a democratic society, based on justice and equality so as to achieve happiness, prosperity and progress for our nation.
Addendum: I’m not the only one wondering about this…2009-08-09
