I have a new hobby which involves buying story books. I just bought ” The curious incident of the dog in the night time” a book which I have read before and is deemed worthy of keeping. Now I want to complain cause I bought it at TIMES with no discount. Popular has 20% discount and I am so not going back to TIMES to buy anything. Hmmp! Nabeh!
After which I bought from Popular, the tenth Circle by Jodie Picult ( for my tuition kid ), who moved my cheese and lastly the 5 people you meet in Heaven.
The extent of my book buying may not seem alot until I counted. 13 books in 4 months. Nabeh. And I haven’t counted the books I gave away as presents.
I read Who moved my Cheese, a simple and common-sense story which many of us have no difficulty understanding but alot of difficulty practising. The line which I remembered and loved would be ” what would you have done if you are not afraid?” Fear. Something which paralyses us and our judgement.
The 5 people you meet in heaven is a feel-good book for the soul. Sprta of the books you should read when you are depressed type and it gives meaning to the existence of our lives. I like the part where one of the 5 pple said to the main character Eddie about funerals and why people are drawn to funerals. I can’t explain my mentality whereby I will try my best to go for funerals if I can even if they are acquaintances. Until the book explained
” It is because the human spirit knows, deep inside, that all lives intersect. That death doesn’t just take someone, it misses someone else, and in the small distance between being taken and being missed, lives are changed.”2006-08-18
