Malaysia is NOT a tong sampah!!!

Gulengz:

Just the other day when I came back from KL to Penang, I was standing by the Bus Station waiting for my mom to pick me up.

All of a sudden, this fat, ugly and rude looking Malaysian guy drinking a box of chocolate milk walked by. Then, right in front of all the passing motorists, in front of all the pedestrians and on a brand new, very clean, very tidy and good looking pavement which haven’t a single drop of garbage on it, he dropped the box right onto the middle on the road and lit up a cigarette like it’s normal.

KNNCCB stupid uncle! This act is not recommended by Gulengz!

Maybe, it is hard for the guy as there isn’t a single garbage bin to be found nearby. Unlike when I was in Singapore, there were garbage bins every few meters at Orchard Road. It is really hard for almost anyone to try to dispose of their garbage properly in Malaysia’s public places.

A Malaysian’s view on the state of cleaniness in his country, as compared to Singapore. Disheartening yet comforting at the same time. Dishearted cause such an inconsiderate person actually exists and of course, it’s nice to know that your homeland gets mentioned alongside the idea of cleaniness, no matter how silly and ridiculous this phrase, ‘garbage bins every few meters at Orchard Road’ sounds.

Future of our MRT

I must say it’s very impressive. I say very soon cars will be obsolete, what’s with the change of time of the Orchard Road area ERP gantries. Loveless Deejay has another version of the map.

The Straits Times is vodcasting

Depending on what defines a vodcast. It seems to me more like a small video coverage on The New Paper’s New Face competition.

But I mean what the heck, since vodcasting is the hippest these days. There’s no way the media would not want a piece of the vodcasting pie since they’re already fiddling with podcasting. Mediacorp Radio that is.

CPL Singapore

This is Tan Min Liang. You guys may remember him “as the fella who was droning away on legal issues on blogging at the Bloggercon”.

Well I have no idea how he got my email but I’m sure all bloggers are invited.

Dear bloggers,

Some of you will remember me as the fella who was droning away on legal issues on blogging at the Bloggercon – anyway, here’s an event I thought that you guys might be keen on. I’m not sure if you’ve read about CPL Singapore (http://www.cplworldtour.com), it’s this US$1M computer gaming event that makes stops around the world and its coming to SG. I’m involved in a certain way and I thought it would be cool if we had some Blogger-coverage on the event. A lot of international gamers are flying down for this event and it’s been all over the papers recently.

Let me know if any of you guys are keen on coming down for the opening ceremony where there is some high profile gahmen fella opening the event at about 6:30PM at the old City Hall tomorrow 13 October 2005 and I’ll get the PR company to do a media pass. Alternatively, the games are on the Padang from 14 Oct – 16 Oct and you’ll be able to come by and see how these fellas make half a million dollars a year playing games. As above, let me know and I’ll have the PR company issue you a pass for the media centre etc. Otherwise, Starhub’s set up a TV channel dedicated to the games for the 4 days.

If you’re coming down, let me know and I’ll see what I can do to arrange for you to play against some of the pros – it’s pretty amusing getting whacked upside down sometimes.

Regards,

Tan Min-Liang

Associate Director

Keystone Law Corporation

If you’re interested on helping him with a coverage (I assume that’s what he wants), leave a comment and your email and I’ll get in touch with him for you.

Virtual Insanity 2005

Virtual Insanity, in line with halloween and to raise funds for Cowboycaleb Liquidblade server and WMD. A worthwhile event plus I’m sure it’s gonna be one hell of a time.

Insurance Website of the Year

Apparently, goes to NTUC Income.

Tan Kin Lian:

We are delighted to be awarded the Insurance Website of the Year in the 9th Asian Insurance Industry Award.

Our new website was designed by an internal project team comprising of our young officers. Our aim is to provide information that is easy to access and can provide useful information to the public. We adopt a practical approach in the design of our website, and avoid the excesive use of graphics, to reduce the downloading time.

I’m not all anal about web standards and browser compatibility issues but if your idea of ‘practical approach’ is only catering to consumers using Internet Explorer then the company may be losing a group of customers whose preference of browsers differ from the majority.

Riding…why?

I had often given thought as to why I had decided to ride.

I ride because:

1) I like the feeling of the wind – You can probably get that feeling on a convertible then again, it’s not exactly the same and not everyone can own a convertible.

2) I like to bua kata (grind footpegs) – There is no subsitute for this. The moment you take a corner on your bike, you’re try to go lower and then you feel the grinding of your footpegs. There’s the instant grin on my face.

3) I like that the pillion is seated behind you – When you pillion a girlfriend, she hugs you from behind, her face (with helmet) and her chest against your back. When at a stop, you hold her hands and assures her that she’s in safe hands. Now try doing the same in your car.

4) I have more freedom – I drive too. When on my bike, I’m not forced to queue behind other cars when in a jam. Cause jams do not apply to bikes. I don’t need to fight with other “paikia” drivers for limited parking lots. Most places have plenty of empty lots for bikes, at least the places I go.

5) I simply enjoy the experience – Riding beats driving anyday (of course I’m just bias)

There is simply too many reasons on why I choose to ride. I merely stated the top five.
