New York, NY (April 22, 2010): Archie Comics, home of the famous Riverdale High students Archie, Betty, Veronica, Reggie and Jughead, is about to welcome a new classmate this fall! On September 1st, Kevin Keller, Archie Comics’ first openly gay character, will be welcomed into the town of Riverdale.

“The introduction of Kevin is just about keeping the world of Archie Comics current and inclusive. Archie’s hometown of Riverdale has always been a safe world for everyone. It just makes sense to have an openly gay character in Archie comic books,” stated Archie Comics Co- CEO, Jon Goldwater.

Does this mean that there were closeted gays in Riverdale (*cough*cough*Jughead*cough*cough*)?

I was down at my place’s canteen the other day and saw this guy buying a can of Red Bull and a can of 100 Plus, asking the uncle for a cup and then pouring both drinks simultaneously into it.

I gather he’s gonna have a long day ahead with the amount of energy this concoction holds.

I don’t know much about sincerity but there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot here skyping and tweeting with her constituents. I for one, will very much prefer to interact with my ward’s MP personally.

MP resorts to Plan B

TO SAY she is disappointed to have missed a ministerial walkabout she was supposed to host in her Punggol North ward, would be an understatement.

But MP Penny Low’s first thought after getting the news that all flights from London to Singapore had been cancelled was: ‘What is Plan B?’

Plan B, as it turned out yesterday, was for her to participate in the dialogue at the end of the visit via Skype.

From a projector in the hall of Greendale Secondary School, she greeted the 400-strong crowd and the guest of honour, Acting Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts Lui Tuck Yew.

As residents asked questions of the minister and other MPs, she twittered her thoughts. The use of Skype was an idea mooted by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, she said. Mr Teo is the leader of the six-MP team in Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

‘When you’re in a situation like this, you have to make juice out of lemons,’ she added.

I need to start working on mine.
