All your bomb are belong to us – Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS)

Sandra Tan, 34, said she complied when security officers asked her to take off her boots for screening on March 9 at Changi Airport’s Budget Terminal.

When her 13-year-old daughter asked why she had to, Tan explained that the officers were ”afraid we might keep bombs in our shoes,” The Straits Times today quoted the mother as saying.

She said a security company employee asked her to repeat what she had said.

Tan replied that she was explaining to her daughter that ”You guys are afraid we will keep bombs in our shoes”.

She was told to step aside. Tan said that a female security officer told her she could be thrown in jail, the report said. Even the sergeant on duty did not accept her explanation that her utterance of the word ”bomb” had been taken out of context.

This totally got to be the single most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Do the airport security officers have some kind of super-duper secret bullshit bomb detector no one knows about?

Security: “Excuse me madam, can you repeat what you just said?”

Lady: “Ya sure, I was explaining to my daughter that you guys are afraid we will keep bomb in our shoes…”

Security: “OMFG! You just said the word ‘bomb’ the second time! You must be a suicidal terrorist despite the fact that you’re with your 13 year old daughter and the last word any terrorist would say at the airport is ‘bomb’!”

On the other hand, it could all be the mother’s fault.

Daughter: “Mommy, how come we need to take off our boots ah?”

Lady: “Sweetcakes, this has absolutely nothing to do with the 4 letter B-word. The security uncle and auntie just want to check whether did we washed our feet and cut our toe nails, that’s all!”

I heard somewhere that the entire interrogation process took about 4 hours! Singapore Changi Airport security officers actually took 4 hours to figure out the fact that Sandra Tan and her family aren’t terrorists.

Brilliant.

WASHINGTON: At an annual dinner for broadcasters, President George W. Bush poked fun at himself and a few others in remarks that drew laughter and applause.

“A year ago my approval rating was in the 30s, my nominee for the Supreme Court had just withdrawn, and my vice-president had shot someone,” Bush said at the Radio and Television Correspondents’ Association dinner on Wednesday.

“Ah,” he said, “those were the good ol’ days.”

Bush thanked the association for providing the dinner, “and I’d like to thank Senator Webb for providing security”.

Virginia’s Democratic senator, Jim Webb, had to explain this week why an aide was carrying a loaded handgun as he tried to enter a Capitol complex building.

Noting that Vice-President Dick Cheney was not in attendance at the event at a Washington hotel, Bush said: “He’s had a rough few weeks. To be honest, his feelings were kind of hurt. He said he was going on vacation to Afghanistan, where people like him.”

Cheney’s recent trip to Afghanistan was marked by a bombing near where he was meeting with officials.

On the controversy over the Justice Department’s firing of eight federal prosecutors, Bush said: “I have to admit we really blew the way we let those attorneys go. You know you’ve botched it when people sympathize with lawyers.”

Acknowledging Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi at the head table, Bush said some had wondered how he’d get along with her.

“Some say she’s bossy, she’s opinionated, she’s not to be crossed,” he said. “Hey, I get along with my mother.”

Looking ahead to life after leaving the White House, Bush said he might follow former president Bill Clinton’s lead and produce a memoir.

“I’m thinking of something really fun and creative for mine,” he said. “You know, maybe a pop-up book.”

Possible titles: “How W. Got His Groove Back,” “Who Moved My Presidency?” and “Tuesday with Cheney.”

Bush noted that another person missing from the audience of broadcast journalists was Senator Barack Obama, the Illinois Democrat running for president.

“Not enough press,” the president cracked.

Comics from the TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway? provided the professional humor. Among other things, they persuaded Bush political advisor Karl Rove to participate in an improvised rap song.

The black-tie dinner, the group’s 63rd annual gathering of journalists, politicians and their guests, features political and topical humor.

Movie Review: TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)

TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)

Lazy movie reviewer day

Kinda ruined my fond childhood memories, Master Splinter suddenly got this cheena accent out of nowhere plus that goofy looking outfit.

Zhang Ziyi…oops I meant Ziyi Zhang’s english actually got better so even after seeing her name in the credits as the female ninja I was still not convinced that’s her.

The above passages may contain spoilers.

mrs lim: ya, i going there to get attached. Maybe i will find a bf there.

my son: eh you don’t anyhow I tell you.

and he is going to send me off. So touched.

my poor wallet

Dear Pink Wallet,
I know I have been mistreating you, you are a birthday present last year and now you look quite dirty. I would like to apologise for today’s incident. I know I don’t stuff you with enough food (money) and you always go hungry, but such is the life of a student. Sigh.

I was seriously going to do my work just now. Except that I have to buy Tiff’s present you see. And we got some time after getting the present and class and being surrounded by shops, it is logical to step into some of them. And you know, that white pair of shoes I picked up today was really worth it. It was only 18 bucks and oh so pretty. And coming from Charles and keith, it was really worth every cent. And since I was working quite hard for the longest time with miminal shopping (cny doesn’t count), it is time to treat myself to something. And 18 bucks to be food for my soul (and sole), it was definitely worth it. The adrenaline high from another pair of shoes was exhilarating. I know i know there is another pair of new shoes sitting somewhere but that pair is going to go shanghai with me you see. And you can never have too much shoes you know.

With much love,
Mrs Lim

How to let your Prof know you

Prof101

When taking a difficult module which you barely understand (hallo quantam physics)

Sigh loudly (and i mean real loudly)

Prof will remember your name and say goodbye to you when you leave the class

Speaking from personal experience

too much to do

I guess it must be the period which is causing the mood swings. I get worked up quite quickly for this week. But thank god for it cause it has been 2.5 months since the last flow -_- due to stress.

I wanted to write a crappy journal to hand in next week since I got a test to study for but it looks as though i can’t write a crappy journal anymore. Reason: I did well for the other journal so it makes sense to do well for this journal to get a decent grade. Kinda surprising since I thought I flopped the journal. But my prof thought I had shown good insight and good self-reflection. So I am pretty glad. SO far all the work I have done this semester have turned out quite well. So far so good.

But i am so stressed. According to my project mate, I am a difficult person to please which is what the “ah pek” told me when he said my fortune. Very fussy person. Ok, I need to change that and be more moderate.

I got so much to do that I don’t know what to start first. You know the lost feeling when work just overwhelms you and you don’t know what to do even though you got alot of work to do. I am kinda getting back to the mood i get when I was at internship which isn’t all that great.

But of course school has more to look out for instead of my sucky internship which reminds me that they still owe me money even after I finished my internship. Suckers.

I need to learn to relax. I want to go and relax tonight before going home to mug. But go with who? and go where? Sigh.
